"Silo" by Scud Mountain Boys

Now I am not a fan of "genres" because there is so much music that is not easily classifiable, but one genre I do think is appropriate is "Alt-Country." This distinguishes more rocking or more experimental country and folk from the cookie-cutter Garth Brooks type of country.

Now one of the best bands in this genre was the Scud Mountain Boys. Founded in Massachusettes by Joe Pernice, it is simple: most tracks use but a few guitars and lyrics. There is copius use of minor chords, but the most moving are the lyircs. The refrain to this tune is:
"I'm gonna burn the silo when you go"

A man smitten, and the Silo reminds him of her. It is raw and it is good is it's goodest form.

SMB are no longer, but Joe Pernice is now the headman of the Pernice Brothers. This is more poppy than SMB, but good in its own right, and I will write more about them later.
